AgiBoo Making Progress with its CTRM Solution AgiBlocks

Agiboo was founded in the Netherlands in 2009 to provide next generation CTRM solutions and consulting services to the industry. Last week I had a catch up demonstration with Jan van den Brom of Agiboo to see how its development of AgiBlocks, its CTRM solution, was coming along. AgiBlocks is a web-based CTRM solution with the look and feel of Windows 8. Being web-based, the solution is also ready for deployment on the cloud. As you might expect from a newly developed CTRM solution, especially coming from a group of consultants who are intimately familiar with the industry and the CTRM solutions available in the market, it is an innovative product.

Initially, it is being targeted into the agricultural commodities space where incidentally there are already over 25 suppliers of various types of CTRM software. To be successful in such a competitive space, Agiboo needs to come up with some real benefits and based on what I saw, it has. The problem as always is that the range of functionality required is vast but Agiboo has released the major components such as risk, physical contracts and recently, commodity logistics providing core CTRM functions. The company already has 10 or so users on the platform and a comprehensive product delivery schedule going forward into 2015 and possibly beyond.

The technology and the approach to building the solution are both highly configurable and highly modular. Agiboo has solved a number of issues in terms of selecting filters and organizing and formatting data in a browser-based environment that really gives AgiBlocks some sex appeal as well as usability. The solution shows real promise for the future and already delivers in a number of areas and despite some missing components, it can already manage the entire deal flow including position keeping through to invoicing complete with integration to NaVision and/or SAP.

Meanwhile, Agiboo now has a presence in Brazil, Turkey and Switzerland and its early AgiBlocks customers are in the Coffee, Cocoa, Sugar and Dairy areas. We will watch carefully to see how this promising new CTRM product in the ags space develops.
