NOVA goes Cloud

Geneva-based Square Four SA has now migrated its NOVA CTRM to a cloud-based version and started to implement it at client sites, I was told earlier this week by Brice Cesbron. A successful upgrade was just completed January 15th at a customer site, another in early February and more are scheduled, he said. The migration to .Net had been a major part of the product roadmap and is now completed. “The major benefit is that the software is now significantly faster,” Brice said. “All migrated customers are very happy with it.”

The roadmap also includes working on a new UI he told me and that is in progress although cautiously as existing customers quite like the existing UI apparently. However, Square Four is committed to modernizing the UI. Beyond that, it has a full plate of other modifications and enhancements through 2025.

NOVA is now also fully integrated with DA-Desk meaning that users can ask for quotations for vessels and receive all costs and invoices back into NOVA, he told me. It is also working on an interface to Dynamics 365.

Square Four is also looking to go to market a bit more aggressively with NOVA, which has long been a respected ETRM solution on the market with a strong customer base but has maintained a low profile. Brice feels that Square Four and NOVA are well differentiated from competing platforms and is keen for the market to know about that. It has recently rebranded with a new slightly revised logo as well.

“We feel that quality of service is one of our key differentiators,” he told me. “When customers have an issue they can call, speak to the developer and get a fix in just a few hours. We feel this is very different to others in the space.”  We have noted that NOVA does often come up in the vendor perception study cited as a market leader in categories like liquid hydrocarbons in the past and we look forward to seeing more of Square Four in the market.
