Industry Views and the Importance of Surveys
This year will see ComTech doing another Vendor Perception Study (VPS) to see how vendor’s are faring and what the users and consultants in the industry think of them. It is driven by a survey and as I was saying yesterday to Kari Foster, VP Marketing for Molecule, they can be hard to get responses to. Molecule is conducting its own research and survey at the moment into “ETRM/CTRM Transformation + Modernization,” she told me, and is of course seeking responses from across the industries. If you would like to help her out with that – go to their survey here. The survey is designed to “analyze how trading organizations are modernizing their risk management operations and how they view the capabilities of their ETRM/CTRM software to adapt to market volatility and operational needs,” and it just takes a few moments to complete. Incentivizing people to take a survey is one way to increase response and Molecule are offering a free copy of their final report and a drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card.
Kari told me that “the idea for the survey came from several conversations my colleagues and I have had with trading, risk, and technology leaders in trading organizations about the challenges and complexities of 1) modernizing their internal risk operations, and 2) the ability of their existing technology to meet changing needs. From our perspective, the E/CTRM space is still lagging behind other technology verticals in terms of innovation, but we want to understand from those that use E/CTRM software how they feel it’s keeping pace.” The survey will close 11:59 PM Central Time (US) on February 9, 2024.
Surveys and survey driven research is important in our industry and most people want access to the results. However, in order to have results, people do need to actually take the survey. Despite taking a survey only taking a couple of minutes or so, some people are reluctant to do it and many of our surveys require quite some time to attract a good response whatever the topic. Perhaps the fact that platforms to make surveying more easy exist like surveymonkey and its ilk is actually part of the issue in that more surveys are conducted? None the less, obtaining viewpoints is a key way to conduct research and surveys remain an important tool in order to collect viewpoints. Companies such as Commodities People also utilise surveys but are able to wrap them into things like registration pages for webinars and its tradeshows thus helping it collect valuable viewpoint information. It then asks researchers like us to provide the narrative and we have often featured in their reports on trends, for example.
Anyway, do consider filling out the survey by Molecule here and, in a month or two, gives us your views on vendors and trends in our Vendor Perception Survey please.
