FIS Energy & Commodities Delivering Containerized Version of Aligne and SaaS Version of XDM
Irina Reitgruber, Product Manager at FIS, told me that “cloud conversations are very active and that there has been a mind shift in the energy sector regarding cloud deployment of applications like CTRM and Risk.” She told us that many firms are now actively seeking ETRM in the cloud. In addition, she was keen to tell us about the successful first implementation of a containerized version of Aligne by one of the largest European energy companies. “This decision followed an extensive testing period on their on-premise servers. The client made this decision as a first step toward continuous delivery model which allows for frequent upgrades of the test environment with automated testing of all relevant business processes to ensure fully functional environment which is always on the latest software version.”
The new Aligne Containerized solution is an alternative deployment model for the Aligne solution she told us. Containers abstract the application from the underlying hardware for both local on-premise servers or in cloud infrastructure and this approach can deliver many benefits. Ms. Reitgruber told us that among the benefits are things like centralization and simplification of application administration, use of fewer hardware resources, cost savings on cloud services environments that offer elastic pricing models, rolling updates and higher availability.
FIS is also seeing good procurement activity levels across the industry, she told us. Risk seems to be a hot topic too as FIS are seeing RFPs from larger companies on the space seeking a high risk management component covering all types of assets. Additionally, they do see a number of different competitors active in the market where some buyers demand a greater choice of possible providers from their consultants. She also has seen good interest on XDM select, the new XDM variant available as software as a service and she expects to report sales for that shortly.
