Metals & Minerals CTRM – MINEMAN Has Market Share
In the coming weeks, I am going to feature some of the vendors that we don’t talk about as often as we would like. We track over 100 vendors in the CTRM and broader space and some of them are not as communicative as others. ComTech tries to cover all vendors at a certain level so if you are a CTRM vendor – do reach out to us.
MINEMAN is one such vendor. MINEMAN is a global company with five offices around the world. Its head office is in Melbourne Australia. General Manager, Jamie Anderson wrote to me recently that “we produces the world’s leading system for managing the sale of metal commodities, primarily concentrates and doré, but it does handle other products as well. The system provides everything from weight and assay management, shipment documentation generation, invoicing, right through to assay exchange and settlement. It also has an extensive finance module which manages the revenue and cash accounting requirements around revaluation and MTM of open sales as well as cash flow forecasting which is so critical in these current times. Our product is used by some of the world’s leading mining companies including Newmont Mining, Barrick Gold, Newcrest Mining, Lundin Mining, Oz Minerals, First Quantum Minerals just to name a few.” We hope to get a more formal briefing in the near future. MINEMAN also offer managed services to “allow mining companies to outsource their back office activities traditionally associated with their use of MINEMAN. These activities include logistics, materials tracking, ship chartering, contract management, marketing administration (weights, assays and settlement), revenue accounting including Mark-to-Market financials, journals, and cashflow forecasting,” according to the company’s website. The company and its software solution do seem to have good market share.
In the last few years, a number of new metals solutions have emerged. While Brady and MINEMAN are well known in the space, solutions now include Amphora, Commodities Engineering, Eka, Fendahl, FIS, Gen10, Ion Aspect and Ion OpenLink, Kiodynos and SAP Commodity Management amongst others depending on which aspect of metals might be involved.
