Preparing for the Next Phase of Growth – Amphora

I recently spoke with Chris Mudry and David Glasspool of Amphora.  Over the last few years, since Chris took over, Amphora has seen some success in the market with several back-to-back record growth years to the point where it has built a substantial customer base. At the same time, Amphora has invested any profits back into the business and made several significant improvements that it hopes will position it for further growth.

Key among these improvements was moving all customers onto a single branch of the code, I was told. “This helps us make the development and release process much more streamlined, automated, faster and better,” Chris told me. However, it has gone further modularizing its product significantly as well meaning that parts of the solution can be worked on or enhanced without worrying about breaking other parts. This too increases efficiencies and reduces costs. So, changes can be made to logistics, for example, without affecting trade entry module.

An exciting recent development is its relationship with Microsoft. “We have a direct relationship with Microsoft now,” Chris told me. “This means that we get access to some products at no charge, training courses on all the products and so on.” Microsoft is also trying to expand its share of the ERP market taking business away from archrival – SAP – and Amphora is working to get natively integrated to benefit from that market penetration by Microsoft. Other advantages of our Microsoft are tools such as Reporting Services and Co-pilot.

Additionally, the company has beefed up marketing – including releasing an impressive audiovisual presentation, honed its sales process and got focused on streamlining and improving support and implementation. Implementations are now rapid for a base case and that helps keep costs down for all parties concerned too. Amphora has also been building a library of blog articles on its site designed to help with and explain areas like support to users and prospects, David Glasspool told me. “The blogs form a growing library of content that help answer inbound inquiries about CTRM software, support, and so on,” he said.

After a quarter of a century or thereabouts, Amphora seems to be thriving and setting about ensuring it is ready for the next 25 years.
