Shall We Meet?

The first 2022 edition of our innovative CTRMRadio podcast turned out to be timely as in it we address the future of events, information dissemination and networking in the industry in a post-COVID world just as the news regarding E-World became official. A recent announcement from the organisers of E-World  states that “February trade fair date lacks popularity Currently, trade fairs in North-Rhine-Westfalia – such as E-world energy & water – are permitted under 3G (vaccinated, recovered or tested). Exhibitors who want to stick to the original February date, have the opportunity to present their solutions at Messe Essen from February 8 to 10, 2022. However, due to the currently valid regulations of most utilities regarding business travel and meetings, the organizers expect few visitors in February.” The event will also now take place in June between the 21st and 23rd and the same announcement noted that “The vast majority of exhibitors have already expressed their support for an event in June and the date from June 21 to 23, 2022 is thus fixed. “We are still in close dialogue with our exhibitors and still await further feedback, but we can already schedule around 90 per cent of the booked exhibition space for the June date. We are very grateful for this positive feedback, the solidarity and the support we are experiencing and look forward to finally welcoming exhibitors and visitors back to Messe Essen in summer,” say the two Managing Directors of E-world GmbH, Stefanie Hamm and Sabina Großkreuz.”

In the podcast, we talked to MD of Commodities People, Ben Hillary, about the innovations his organisation made to adapt to the new normal of lockdowns and work from home and where he thinks the trade show and conference area will go in the future. It was an intriguing discussion and it seems that hybrid in person and online shows may well be the new future. We also spoke with Chris Sass, co-host of the Insider’s Guide to Energy podcast about the role that podcasts can play going forward as well as to a representative of an industry networking, James Harris with Geneva-based Commodity Trading Network, which organises industry networking events and education, about how networking events will likely operate.
