Fendahl Sees Active Market and Grows its’ US Presence
I recently caught up with Henry Thornalley at Fendahl. It had been quite a while since we last talked and he explained that both he and Fendahl had been extremely busy. A high point of note was Fendahl’s continued success in North America in the gas and oil arena where he said it had closed several more new deals and expected to do several more. He also pointed to South America as an active market for the vendor currently and told me that he thought Europe had also picked up with more possible bids and deals emerging – even some big names in the business. In fact, he saw quite a few very large opportunities in the market at the moment. He also said that Australia and the middle East were very active but that Singapore had been a bit quiet. “There is lots going on,” he told me.
One point Henry made – and others have said similar – is that the Trump election appeared to have had a positive effect – especially on oil and gas. Perhaps it was in part, the surety of knowing who won and in part, the Trump administration’s commitment to oil and gas. Henry thought that the period 2023-2024 had seen a bit of a slowdown but since then, it had gotten extremely busy. “It’s been non-stop for us since September last,” he said. He also pointed out that many consulting firms are also extremely busy with selections and implementations.
Product-wise, he believes that functionally, it is now mature and fully functional across the entire space. Fendahl now has full parity between its web-client and traditional client so that customers can have a web-enabled UI if they wish, he told me. However, he suggested that most customers still want the original UI despite the web-enabled version being a strong marketing device.
Fendahl continues to grow as a result and is currently looking at its sales & marketing footprint, he told me. In particular, it is looking at building its Houston-based team both in terms of sales & marketing but also in terms of support resources for new customers in the region. “We hired some very experienced and senior resources in the USA, and it has already made a big difference,” he said. Additionally, the vendor has implemented new support processes and in general is improving how it operates as it grows, he said.
