Trilogy Effective Software Solutions continues moving forward
As we noted in this blog, the co-founder and CEO of Trilogy Effective Software Solutions (Trilogy) and longtime industry veteran, Dick Couron, passed away suddenly several weeks ago. In light of his passing, we recently reached out to Jeremy Frye, president of the company to get an update on the company’s plans.
Though clearly Dick’s death was loss for those that knew him and the company that he co-founded with Jeremy about seven years ago, Jeremy did note that in recent years, Dick has been semi-retired and not actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the business. As such, he is confident that the business will continue as it has for years, with no noticeable changes for their customers or any change in their business strategy, particularly as Trilogy’s corporate direction has, for many years, been a cooperative effort of both leaders.
Regarding that strategy, about a year and half ago the company began to focus additional effort on the mid-tier/mid-stream markets in the North American oil, gas and NGL space and they have found good success. Now with more than 20 customers, including producers, plant operators, processors, first purchasers, and mid-tier marketers, Jeremy notes the company’s sales funnel is healthy and he anticipates 2 new customers will close in the coming weeks.
In terms of their product’s functional coverage, he notes that the system can meet the needs of most of the upstream and midstream market, from the wellhead forward, including gas gathers and intrastate pipelines (with a full EBB available for those pipe operators).
When asked what differentiates his company’s product, he noted that while some others can offer similar functionality to TIES, their flagship system, he believes their pricing and accelerated implementation process (including the use of automation, integration toolsets, customizations without coding and rich library of interactive user help and guides) allows Trilogy’s customers to have those capabilities much more quickly, and at a much lower cost, than what their competitors can provide.
While Dick was a pioneer in the ETRM space, and his passing has had a significant impact on those that knew him, we do expect the company will continue to do well under Mr. Frye’s leadership. While we do anticipate a continued slowing of activity in the North American oil and gas space as operators cut back drilling activity in light of persistently low prices for oil, gas and NGL’s, we expect that the company that Dick and Jeremy built will continue to find their share of new deal opportunities and remain successful for many years to come.
