Trilogy Energy Solutions building on 2024 Success in Midstream Energy

I recently had an opportunity to talk with Jeremy Frye, Chief Product Officer of Trilogy Energy Solutions, to receive an update on their product as well as his company’s business operations.  Trilogy Energy Solutions has been providing software solutions to the midstream energy space for several decades and their rebranded product The Integrated Energy System (TIES), has undergone significant investment in the past several years.  TIES is targeted towards midstream oil & gas companies, including asset operators.  TIES specializes in physical logistics and asset operations while offering integrated trading and risk capabilities.

Jeremy explained Trilogy has revamped and modernized the entire user interface with input from UI design experts.  Trilogy has also added full API support to enhance its integration and inter-operability.  Jeremy provided me with an overview of Trilogy’s product roadmap including their phased incorporation of AI capabilities.

Jeremy indicated that 2024 was very successful for Trilogy, adding eight new accounts.  These included natural gas and NGL midstream asset owners, producers, as well as several trading companies.  Building on that success, Jeremy indicated “they have a number of irons in the fire for 2025 already”, including several prospects in the power trading space.

Trilogy has expanded the trading & risk aspects of the TIES platform adding support for derivatives, option valuation, and credit, along with Value at Risk.  We discussed that while these midstream companies have a primary focus on physical operations, their requirements have evolved necessitating more risk-oriented capabilities.  Jeremy indicated that the TIES integrated risk and trading capabilities are being adopted more and more by existing customers, and also becoming a higher priority for prospects in the midstream space.

Trilogy has a well thought out, phased approach to adopting AI.  The first phase focuses on streamlining product documentation, training, and modeling of scenarios.  The second phase has a heavy automation emphasis with focus on the end user.  This includes data and file imports, workflows, reports and reconciliation tools.  Production and demand forecasting models are the focus of the third phase along with improving the user interaction with these models.  The fourth phase will tackle complex decision-making tools in trading and logistics optimization.

Trilogy appears to be well positioned for 2025 building on their recent success, investment in the product, and well-structured product roadmap.
