Catch up – REMIT, EMIR 3.0, REMA and more

This post highlights a few items from the past weeks so far not covered:

ACER released feedback from the consultation run over the summer around the upcoming changes to REMIT reporting as a result of REMIT II. It can be found here. The consultation covered a wide range of reporting topics which will lead to a significant change over the coming period.

The next stage of the Swiss “BATE” regulation, which aims to bring a “full REMIT” to Switzerland has passed. This article on the Blue News web site provides more detail.

EMIR 3.0 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union. While most of it deals with clearing requirements, it sets the scene for a change in the rules around the calculation of the clearing threshold,. which will be the topic of further legislation next year. The Level 1 text can be found here.

IOSCO has written a report that proposes to update several of their Principles for the Regulation and Supervision of Commodity Derivatives Markets. The report can be found here. it includes OTC transparency, large positions and other topics.

In Great Britain the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has issued an update on the process around the Review of the Electricity Market Arrangements (REMA) which can be found here. It includes the responses to the second consultation run earlier this year. Policy development is scheduled to complete by the middle of next year.
