Fewer larger license deals but increasing spending.
HOUSTON, TX AND PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC. (PRWEB) SEPTEMBER 07, 2017
Commodity Technology Advisory (ComTech Advisory), the leading analyst firm for energy and commodity trading and risk management (E/CTRM) technologies, has released its biannual market outlook report for Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) software. The report, which includes actual market size estimates for 2016 and a 5-year outlook, is available in a summarized form as a free download at either the ComTech Advisory website or the CTRM Center (https://www.ctrmcenter.com). A full report, providing a detailed breakdown and discussion by industry segment, commodity and global geographic regions, is also available for purchase on those same sites.
In discussing the results of the company’s analysis, Patrick Reames, Managing Partner notes, “Despite a very difficult year for the CTRM market in 2016, first half results from 2017 indicate that commodity market participants have somewhat adjusted to market conditions and are again spending for IT solutions. Though we do not anticipate that the full year 2017 will grow beyond the levels of 2015 ($1.59B), we do expect total CTRM spending in 2017 will be $1.55B, a solid increase of almost 8% over the $1.48B spent on software and related services in 2016. Longer term, we anticipate annual growth rates of 4-6% through 2021.”
“A fascinating aspect of this year’s analysis has been the growth of recurring revenues from CTRM cloud deployments as opposed to one time license fees,” reports Dr. Gary M. Vasey, Managing Partner. “We estimate that cloud and hosted deployments generated $93M in 2016 and we expect growth well in excess of general growth rates into the future.”
